The Bank was established in April 1993, among the first private banks in Macedonia under the name Kreditna Banka AD Skopje.

In January 2000, Alpha Bank A.E., Athens acquired the majority stake in the Bank and became the main shareholder.

In 2002, Alpha Bank A.E., Athens acquired the remaining stake and became the sole shareholder, accounting for 100% of its share capital. The same year the Bank changed its name from Kreditna Banka AD Skopje into Alpha Bank AD Skopje.
